The aim is to provide immediate assistance to scholars in the continuation of their research in a safe environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The application is open to&nbsp;<strong>academic institutions<\/strong>&nbsp;(\u201cthe host institution\u201d), including universities, academies, and other research-performing organisations that are based in a&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/portal\/47-members-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Council of Europe<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;member state, and that plan to host researchers who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine (\u201cthe beneficiaries\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Applications must be submitted according to the principle \u201cone beneficiary, one application.\u201d Host institutions can apply for&nbsp;up to one-year of funding&nbsp;to set up new or maintain existing positions for researchers who have fled Ukraine. Applications must be submitted by the host institution and should be co-signed by the beneficiary. There is no limit to the number of beneficiaries that a host institution can apply funding for. Institutions dedicated to military research are not eligible for funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who benefits?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The funding programme aims to help&nbsp;<strong>scholars from all nationalities and scientific disciplines who have left or are seeking to leave Ukraine as a consequence of the war<\/strong>&nbsp;(the beneficiaries). Eligible beneficiaries include postdoctoral and senior researchers, as well as assistant, associate or full professors affiliated with Ukrainian academic and\/or research-performing institutions.&nbsp;Proof of affiliation&nbsp;of the beneficiary with a Ukrainian institution must be provided as part of the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who selects?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The selection process is carried our by an independent selection committee composed of senior officials from the following international, pan-European science institutions, representing universities, funding organisations, and individual researchers:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Research Council (ERC)<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eua.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European University Association (EUA)<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/globalyoungacademy.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Young Academy (GYA)<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scienceeurope.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Science Europe<\/a>. The committee\u2019s work is coordinated by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/allea.org\/antonio-loprieno\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ALLEA\u2019s President<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-heading\"><strong>Criteria and selection procedures<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Hosting institutions<\/strong>&nbsp;will integrate the beneficiaries into existing or new research projects and departments, and commit to supporting them by providing the required infrastructure for Ukrainian scientists to continue their research work in a safe environment.<\/li><li>The programme will offer a&nbsp;<strong>monthly stipend for up to 12 months<\/strong>. As a rule, the maximum amount per hosting arrangement&nbsp;should not exceed \u20ac25,000 per beneficiary, and will be determined in accordance with the beneficiary\u2019s academic position and the regulations of the hosting institutions.<\/li><li>The&nbsp;<strong>selection process<\/strong>&nbsp;will be performed by the independent EFDS selection committee on the basis of the application and taking into account further relevant criteria and considerations as appropriate and unanimously agreed upon by the committee members.<\/li><li><strong>Successful applicants<\/strong>&nbsp;will be informed about the conditions of the grant without delay. Disbursement procedures, reporting and other requirements will be formalised and acknowledged in a cooperation agreement between ALLEA and the host institution.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Applications will be received in&nbsp;two different rounds. To be considered for the first round, please submit your complete application by&nbsp;<strong>1 July 2022<\/strong>. Information about the second round will be provided here in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Applications must be submitted by the host institution and co-signed by the beneficiary.
