{"id":2050,"date":"2022-08-22T06:38:36","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T06:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science.tdmu.edu.ua\/?p=2050"},"modified":"2022-08-22T06:38:36","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T06:38:36","slug":"call-for-applications-emergency-fellowship-programme-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/science\/en\/call-for-applications-emergency-fellowship-programme-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Applications: Emergency Fellowship Programme \u2013 Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), with the support of Ploughshares Fund, has established the&nbsp;<strong><em>Emergency Fellowship Programme<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<em>Ukraine&nbsp;<\/em>(EFPU).<\/strong>&nbsp;The programme was established in response to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, in an effort to sustain the engagement of affected scholars and experts on nuclear arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament issues and support their research and other contributions at European institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The programme will provide short-term (between 3 and 6 months) fellowships to Ukrainian scholars and experts allowing them to conduct research at European think tanks, universities, and non-governmental organizations. Key information about the EFPU are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Title:<\/strong>&nbsp;Emergency Fellowship Programme \u2013 Ukraine<br><strong>Amount:&nbsp;<\/strong>3000 USD\/month<br><strong>Duration:&nbsp;<\/strong>3 to 6 months<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>TARGET GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The programme is open to&nbsp;<em><u>Ukrainian citizens<\/u><\/em>&nbsp;working on&nbsp;<strong>non-proliferation, disarmament and arms control issues<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>(including&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>nuclear security<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;and<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;export controls<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong>&nbsp;who have completed their Master\u2019s degree or doctoral\/PhD studies. Candidates can be experts and practitioners affiliated as scientists or scholars with a university, non-university research institution, think thanks and research centers in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>FUNDING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Each awarded fellow will receive a stipend of&nbsp;<strong>3000 USD<\/strong>&nbsp;(per month). Fellows will be responsible for covering their own travel\/relocation expenses. Fellows will also be responsible for their visa\/accommodation arrangements and other similar expenses associated with the relocation, living and other arrangements for their stay with hosting institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>DURATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Fellowships are expected to last from three to six months depending on the research or project proposal of the applicant. Applicants should agree on the research\/project and on its duration with the hosting institution before applying and clarify the expected length of their research\/project in their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>APPLICATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The application process is composed of two steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\"><li><strong>AGREEMENT WITH A HOSTING INSTITUTION<\/strong><ul><li>Applicants identify a research institute, a think tank, a university or a non-governmental organization where they would like conduct their fellowship.<\/li><li>Applicants contact the hosting institution, submit their research\/project proposal to the institution, agree on the project and its duration with the hosting institution and secure a hosting agreement.<\/li><li>Applicants obtain a supporting letter from the hosting institution<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>APPLICANTS SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\"><li>Applicants collect the necessary documents:<ul><li>CV or Resum\u00e9<\/li><li>Research\/project proposal (two pages maximum describing the general aims of the research\/project and its duration)<\/li><li>Supporting letter by the hosting institution. The letter should: (1) confirm that the hosting institution is willing and ready to host the applicant; (2) briefly describe the organization; and (3) indicate a point of contact<\/li><li>Copy of the Ukrainian passport<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Applicants compile all the documents in&nbsp;<strong><u>ONE PDF FILE<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;and send it to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:apply@vcdnp.org\">apply@vcdnp.org<\/a>&nbsp;with the subject:&nbsp;<strong>EUPF Application_(Name of Applicant)<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\"><li><\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Please note that all documents will need to be in English and that incomplete applications&nbsp;<em><u>will not<\/u>&nbsp;<\/em>be considered.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>HOST INSTITUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Preferably, the hosting institution is located in the European Union, but it can also be located outside the EU (including the United States).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><em>Please note that the VCDNP will not be able to support or assist with any visa requests and that fellows are responsible for visa arrangements<\/em>. In this regard, please also note that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/strategy\/priorities-2019-2024\/stronger-europe-world\/eu-solidarity-ukraine\/eu-assistance-ukraine\/information-people-fleeing-war-ukraine_en\">EU has lifted visa requirements for Ukrainians<\/a>. their own research\/project but may also support the hosting institution with other projects, contributing to the organization\u2019s work, strengthening their own expertise and contributing to the field at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>DEADLINE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Applications are accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Given the limited amount of fellowships available, early applications are strongly encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>REPORTING AND FEEDBACK REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">At the end of the fellowship, both fellows and hosting institutions will be required to submit a formal report (between one and three pages) on the results of the fellowship, including feedback by the hosting institutions about the fellow\u2019s work and project during the placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"
