RESEARCH

The Institute conducts research in the following areas: dissertations planning and preparing; performance of departmental and interdepartmental research work; organization and participation in scientific and applied conferences; organization and management of student research works.

The staff of the Institute include 4 doctors of sciences in medicine, 5 doctors of sciences in pedagogy, 1 doctor of sciences in history and 1 doctor of sciences in technology, 14 PhDs in medicine, 13 PhDs in pedagogy, 14 PhDs in philology, 6 PhDs in history, 3 PhDs in philosophy, 2 PhDs in law, 1 PhD in economics, 1 PhD in physics and mathematics and 3 PhDs in technology.

At the Department of Pathophysiology, there is an approbation commission of the specialized academic board D 58.601.01 in specialty 14.03.04 – pathological physiology. It is involved in preliminary defences of dissertations for obtaining the scientific degree of Doctor of Sciences in Medicine in the specialty of pathological physiology. Since 2005, professors of the department have reviewed more than 100 dissertations.

At present, the staff of the Institute are completing one doctorate and about 10 PhD theses.

Researching the pathogenic mechanisms of severe trauma

The staff of the Institute received more than 30 patents for inventions, published more than 1,000 articles in journals and collections of papers.

The Academic and Research Institute of Pathological Processes Simulation and Analysis conducts extensive research. The following research is being carried out:

• Development of students’ foreign language communicative competence at the medical university. State registration number: 0122U000033. Supervisor: Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, DSc in Pedagogy, Prof. N. O. Fedchyshyn (2022-2023).
• Professional language didactics in the context of personal paradigm. State registration number: 0122U000038. Supervisor: Head of the Department of the Ukrainian Language, DSc in Pedagogy, Prof. A. V. Vykhrushch (2022-2024).
• Educational process orientation at achievement of integral results in the conditions of mixed learning during future medical specialists training. State registration number: 0122 U000034. Supervisor: Head of the Department Higher Education Pedagogy and Social Sciences, DSc in Pedagogy, Prof. I. M. Melnychuk (2022-2024).
• Data Science and Big Data information technologies in cyber-physical systems of medical and biological processes. State registration number: 0122U000030. Supervisor: Professor of the Department of Medical Informatics, DSc in Technology, Prof. A. S. Sverstiuk (2022-2023).

The teaching staff of the Institute take an active part in the organization and hosting of all-Ukrainian and international scientific-applied and methodical conferences. Since 2008, the Institute’s staff have held the annual scientific and applied conference “Actual issues of pathology under the action of extraordinary factors on the body”, since 2020 – the conference “Simulation training in undergraduate and postgraduate training of health care workers”.

All departments of the Institute run student scientific clubs. Their members can master practical skills and conduct various scientific researches.

With the participation of the student clubs’ members, more than 100 papers have been published in collections of conference papers. Members of the clubs take an active part in all-Ukrainian and international conferences, seminars, symposia, showing good results and receiving highest awards.

At the Department of Disaster and Military Medicine and Department of Emergency and Simulation Medicine, members of the student scientific clubs being part of the youth centre of the All-Ukrainian Resuscitation Council undergo additional training and take an active part in the training of civilians in pre-medical aid.
