TSMU hosted the VI scientific symposium on Immunopathology of Diseases of the Respiratory and Digestive Organs

On September 24-27, 2018, Ternopil State Medical University hosted the VI scientific symposium Immunopathology of Diseases of the Respiratory and Digestive Organs. International Pulmonology School was carried out with the framework of the symposium featuring lectures by professors from Poland and Italy. Ternopil State Medical University students received their student cards

At the end of August 2018 Ternopil State Medical University ordered redesigned state issued student IDs, and on September 7th the first of the cards had arrived to be distributed. Almost a thousand students enrolled on bachelor and master’s degree programs have already received their cards. The next batch of IDs will be ordered after the end of the admissions campaign for international students. Recently, Ternopil State Medical University received a letter of appreciation from the staff of NICU of Ternopil Regional Children’s Hospital. Doctors, parents and the little patients convey their  gratitude to TSMU international students’ faculty for their involvement and help. New cafeteria, food court and sports area opened on TSMU campus

A new student cafeteria on 5 Zhyvova (Dorm 1)  offers Ternopil State Medical University students not only delicious and inexpensive meals, have a cup of coffee or tea, but also a place to get together, talk, hold a group meeting, or organize a small concert for friends. Staff and students of Ternopil State Medical University can become bone marrow donors

Recently, Ternopil residents organized the first non-governmental registry of bone marrow donors. This idea stemmed the dire need for marrow transplants. Currently in Ukraine these surgeries are not performed, while such operations abroad can cost up to 100 thousand dollars. Half of this cost goes for the search and selection of a donor. Those in need of bone marrow transplants have only 25% chance of finding a suitable family donor, requiring the rest to look for non-related donors in the registries of hematopoietic stem cells. On August 31, 2018 Academic Council of the Ternopil State Medical University held matriculation of a new cohort of medical students. The event took place in the administrative building courtyard. TSMU is to receive Erasmus + funding for the project Innovative Rehabilitation Education: Introducing New Master’s Degree Programs in Ukraine

Recently a consortium of universities, including Ternopil State Medical University won an Erasmus + call with the project Innovative Rehabilitation Education:  Introducing New Master’s Degree Programs in Ukraine. This was one of the five winning projects that have participants from Ukraine. Overall, 98 projects with Ukrainian participation were submitted for the call. The consortium consists of the universities form Latvia, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, as well as the European Federation of Adaptive Physical Activity. Students of Ternopil State Medical University Faculty of Medicine, Kateryna Bihuniak, Romanna Pavliuk, Kateryna Andrushkevych and Natalia Zakernychna completed practical training at the Bahçeşehir University (BAU) in Istanbul, Turkey.   TSMU students at BAU Hospital in Istanbul. For several years, Ternopil State Medical University has been taking leading positions in prestigious independent world rankings. Recently the university placed first among Ukrainian medical schools and eighth among all the universities of Ukraine in in July 2018 ranking published by 4 International Colleges & Universities (https://www.4icu.org/ua/). Bahçeşehir University students trained at TSMU affiliated clinics

This year, Ternopil State Medical University and Bahçeşehir University (Istanbul, Turkey) had signed a bilateral cooperation agreement and developed an exchange program. Ternopil State Medical University professor participated in the Great Teachers Seminar

In June 2018, head of TSMU Department of Pediatric Diseases and Pediatric Surgery Professor Oksana Boyarchuk trained at MacEwan University (Edmonton, Canada). Participating in the training program were also faculty from other Ukrainian partners of MacEwan University: Natalia Starynska from the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and Oleksandr Avramchuk from Ukrainian Catholic University. On May 21, 2018,  TSMU department of international relations finalized results of a competition for 3rd and 4th year medical students to study at Wroclaw Medical University for one semester during the 2018-2019 academic year. Ternopil State Medical University researchers continue studying epidemiology, manifestations and prevention of Lyme disease

On May 17, 2018 a working group of scientists from TSMU Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology visited five forestry districts of Volyn region. The work aimed to assess understanding by the foresters of epidemiology, main clinical manifestations and prevention of Lyme disease, and to carry out clinical and laboratory studies to detect borreliosis bacteria in risk groups. Ternopil branch of the European Medical Student Association held the final event of the year.
