Computer-based tests for knowledge assessment are widely used in the teaching process. It helps to effectively determine the final level of knowledge on all topics of the course. Tests, situational tasks are constantly replenished and updated. The test tasks worked out by the departments were included in the university-wide database of tests for conducting unified semester exams and differentiated credits. After each examination session, invalid tests are removed from the database and replaced with new ones.

The work of the Institute is centred around mastering practical skills by students, which proves a practically oriented direction of the teaching process. In accordance with the Standards of Higher Education approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the departments of the Institute have worked out lists of practical skills, which are included in the line of practical skills (matriculation).

Even during the period of the COVID-19 epidemic, in order to prepare for the state examination, a training camp was organized for paramedic students at the Chervona Kalyna Academic and Recreation Centre, during which students had the opportunity to master key practical skills and competences in emergency medical care, and also participated in the liquidation of medical and sanitary consequences of a mass incident during joint tactical training with the State Emergency Service and the National Police.

Every year, the teachers of the departments make changes to the training programs based on the decisions of the Cyclic Methodical Commission and in accordance with the requests of the students which they express in annual student surveys. This will contribute greatly to the development of the student’s individual educational pathway. Also, at the request of students, the departments organize separate practical classes on specific topics that directly relate to their practical activities. In particular, paramedic students were given classes on water rescue and psychological aspects of disaster medicine together with psychologists of the State Emergency Service.
