A New Joint Project between TNMU and McEwen University (Canada) has been Initiated

On January 27, 2021, a new joint project –the course “Qualitative Research Methods” has been initiated by Ternopil National Medical University and the McEwen University (Canada).

 

The developers and lecturers of this course are Elizabeth Burgess-Pinto, Associate Professor of Nursing at McEwan University, Olenka Bilash, Professor of the University of Alberta (Canada) and Larisa Hayduk, the Head of the Ukrainian Centre for Resources and Development (UCRD).

 

Post-graduate and PhD students in nursing as well as teachers of the Departments of Clinical Immunology, Allergology and General Patient Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology No.2, Functional and Laboratory Diagnostics, Pediatrics No.2, Internal Medicine No.2 study at this course.

 

The aim of the course is to study the methodology of qualitative methods use in research. In particular, by a specific research project on nursing it is planned to:

  • develop compiling questionnaires for surveys according to the literature review and in compliance with ethical standards;
  • study various tools for data collection;
  • develop the interview protocol; conducting and recording interviews, their interpreting;
  • involve the researchers to preliminary subject coding and data analysis;
  • analyse the conclusions.

It is a two-year course. The first year takes place online, the second – in a mixed form of study.
