On January 26, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine, Major General Nadir Khan, paid an official visit to I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. The military attaché, Brigadier General Muhammad Jawad Ahmed, arrived with him.
Distinguished guests met with the Rector of TNMU, Professor Mykhaylo Korda, Deputy Rector for International Relations Natalia Lisnychuk, Dean of the International Students’ Faculty, Professor Maria Marushchak regarding the transfer to TNMU of Pakistani students who, with the beginning of the war, were forced to evacuate and leave their studies at medical universities in Ukraine , which are in the frontal zone.
Nadir Khan noted that the embassy has received personal appeals from students who wish to continue their medical education in Ternopil. He added that many young people are ready to take advantage of this opportunity if all visa and security issues are agreed upon.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the development of scientific and educational cooperation.
At the end of the visit, the representatives of the Pakistani embassy had the opportunity to inspect the bomb shelters of TNMU, the library, the educational facilities of the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, and the cell culture laboratory.
