On March 12, 2026, the Department of Foreign Languages ​​of the Ternopil National Medical University named after I. Ya. Horbachevsky organized the first stage of the All Student Olympiad in the academic discipline “Latin Language and Medical Terminology”. 33 first-year students of the medical and dental faculties and 11 higher education students of the faculty of foreign students took part in the Latin Olympiad.

Foreign students completed the Olympiad tasks remotely using the Teams platform. Associate Professors Roman Kotsiuba, Maria Kichula and Ivanna Humenna prepared tasks of varying complexity, covering different types: reading, listening and writing.

The results of the Olympiad confirmed the proper professional level of Latin language training of students, a high degree of formation of practical skills and abilities, and good creative potential of future specialists in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and physical therapy. The winners of the first stage were determined in three categories: 1) contestants studying in specialty “Medicine”; 2) contestants studying in specialty “Therapy and Rehabilitation”; 2) contestants studying in specialty “Dentistry”; 3) contestants – foreign students. The best results among students of the Faculty of International Students:

1st place – Joseph Ufuoma Ishaka (IM-124)

2nd place – Paulina Basak (IM-124)

3rd place – Daniel Zbigniew Skomro (IC-113) and Opoku Sindi (IM-124)
