On January 9, 2024, the Rector of Ternopil National Medical University Mykhaylo Korda met with third-year students from India regarding the changes introduced by the National Medical Commission of India, which apply to applicants who entered after November 18, 2021.

The rector assured that the university administration makes every effort to provide a 12-month internship for international students after completing the Master’s program in the specialty “Medicine” with the possibility of obtaining a specialist certificate. In confirmation of this, on November 24, 2023, a meeting of the Department of Medical Personnel, Education and Science of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with representatives of medical universities of Ukraine took place, during which relevant changes to the “Regulations on Internship” were prepared.

On December 26-27, 2023, the Head of the Department of Medical Personnel, Education and Science of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Professor Serhii Ubohov, paid a working visit to Ternopil National Medical University. Responding to the question about the introduction of a new model of internship, Serhii Ubohov noted that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is actively working on introducing changes suggested by the university to the “Regulations on Internship” for international students, but this requires time, as well as the approval of other structures of the Ministry of Health.

During the visit of the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Viktor Liashko, on January 10, 2023, to Ternopil National Medical University, Mykhaylo Korda handed him a letter with proposals for a one-year internship, which involves obtaining a specialist certificate for international students. Viktor Liashko emphasized that in the nearest future the Ministry of Health will organize a meeting with rectors of medical universities to discuss the issue of international cooperation.
