In the updated Webometrics ranking (Ranking Web of Universities — https://www.webometrics.info/en/Europe/Ukraine), which covers the activities of higher education institutions in the first half of 2024, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University has once again been ranked first among medical universities in Ukraine, and has climbed to the eighth position among 200 Ukrainian higher education institutions.
When determining a university’s position in the ranking, the developers take into account the following indicators:
Visibility — the number of external sources that contain backlinks to the institution’s web pages — is calculated using the Ahrefs and Majestic tools — 50%.
Transparency — the number of citations of the institution’s top authors according to Google Scholar Citations — 10%.
Excellence — the number of articles by the institution’s researchers that are among the top 10% of the most cited in 27 subject areas according to Scimago calculations — 40%.
The Webometrics ranking has been published since 2004 by one of the largest scientific institutions in Europe, the National Research Council of Spain.
The main goal of the ranking is to promote academic presence on the Internet, support open access to significantly increase the exchange of scientific and cultural knowledge in universities around the world.
