Physician Scientist Program

📌 Are you a physician aiming to combine patient care with cardiovascular research?

Our Physician Scientist Program (PS-HI-TAC) is now accepting applications for its structured training track.

Physician scientists – medical doctors active in both clinical practice and research – play an essential role in translating basic science into clinical application. PS-HI-TAC offers young physicians the opportunity to dedicate two years to translational cardiovascular research before continuing with clinical training.

The program is coordinated by the Helmholtz-Institute for Translational AngioCardioScience, a joint initiative of the Max Delbrück Center and Universität Heidelberg.

🩺 Program features include:

• Structured clinical training at University Hospitals of Heidelberg University (in Heidelberg or Mannheim)
• Mentoring by established cardiovascular researchers and clinical mentors
• Additional scientific education at the School of Translational AngioCardioScience and local partner programs
• Integration into the research environment of the Helmholtz-Institute for Translational AngioCardioScience

Eligible applicants:
• Physicians within 3 years of completing medical school (Germany or abroad)
• With demonstrated basic scientific experience (e.g. MD thesis or equivalent)
