Fourth Call in the FOR UKRAINE Programme

The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) launches its fourth call for applications in the FOR UKRAINE programme. Thanks to this initiative, scientists from Ukraine can establish cooperation with Polish researchers to undertake joint research in humanities and social sciences. The deadline for applications is June 3, 2024.

The FOR UKRAINE programme supports researchers from Ukraine so that they can continue their scientific work through cooperation with Polish scholars and research centers.

The programme offers an annual grant of PLN 268,800 for a Polish–Ukrainian scientific project covering issues related to the development of civil society, democracy, European integration, or security. The projects must deal with matters of importance to both countries.

The call for applications in the FOR UKRAINE programme is open to pairs of scientists, one from Poland and one from Ukraine. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree obtained no earlier than 12 years before submitting the application. Unlike in previous calls, the Ukrainian representative must not only be employed by a Ukrainian scientific institution when submitting the application but also reside and later implement the project in Ukraine.

The person working in Poland is the one who submits the application on behalf of both scientists, together with a Polish scientific institution where the project will be implemented (host unit).

Thanks to funds obtained by the Foundation from the donors supporting the FOR UKRAINE programme, the fourth call for applications allows applications that additionally seek co-financing for an additional person, a doctoral student who will be involved in a project’s implementation.

An international panel of experts appointed by the Foundation for Polish Science evaluates all applications.

The FNP accepts only applications in English, submitted through the electronic system at www.wnioski.fnp.org.pl.

The deadline for submitting applications for the fourth call is June 3, 2024.

In the fourth call for applications, the FNP plans to finance up to three grants. The results are expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2024.
