Mental Health: Preventing Emotional Burnout and Supporting Mental Balance

On May 29, 2025, the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, and Medical Psychology hosted a themed event as part of Mental Health Awareness Month and the nationwide program “How Are You?” initiated by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska.

During the meeting, psychiatrists and psychologists discussed urgent issues related to emotional burnout — a phenomenon becoming increasingly widespread amid high professional stress and tension.

Key discussion topics included:

  • Causes and symptoms of emotional burnout
  • Prevention methods through daily routines, recovery strategies, and mental hygiene
  • Effective self-help techniques
  • Resource-based practices to maintain mental balance

Special attention was given to the importance of mutual support in professional environments — a critical factor for specialists who work daily with human vulnerability and trauma.

The event was held in a warm atmosphere of trust and open dialogue, where every participant had the opportunity to share their own experiences and feel the support of like-minded individuals.

Let us remember: in order to help others, we must also take care of ourselves.
