Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków will host LUMEN 2026
On 17 and 18 November 2026, Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków will host LUMEN 2026, a conference organised by PCG Academia, the Jagiellonian University and Times Higher Education. The first day of the conference includes the THE CEE Spotlight gala, at which universities recognised in the listing will receive their Times Higher Education certificates from Phil Baty, Chief Global Affairs Officer at Times Higher Education. On behalf of the organisers, I would like to ask you kindly to consider nominating a representative of your university who will attend the gala and who, in all likelihood, will have the opportunity to accept the certificate on its behalf.
The gala will see the first presentation of the World University Rankings Central & Eastern Europe Spotlight Edition, a lens on World University Rankings data narrowed to Central and Eastern Europe, allowing universities from the region to be compared with one another under broadly similar systemic conditions and placing their achievements in their proper context.
An invitation in this form is being extended to a strictly limited group of universities in the region, identified on the basis of ranking data. In line with the principle adopted by Times Higher Education, the results remain confidential until they are announced from the stage. I am nonetheless writing to you well in advance, mindful that nominating a representative of the university requires time and organisational preparation.
Should your university be recognised in the listing, attending the gala means:
- a public presentation of the university before an international audience of rectors, representatives of ranking organisations and sector media
- a Times Higher Education certificate for use in the university’s communications, recruitment materials and promotional activities, together with photographic coverage of the gala
Regardless of the outcome of the listing, attending the conference offers:
- direct conversation with Phil Baty and the Times Higher Education team on ranking methodology and the positioning of your university
- participation in a two-day programme devoted to internationalisation, digital transformation, open science and the student experience
- contact with university leaders from across Central and Eastern Europe, with a substantial group of rectors and vice-rectors from the region already registered
Given the nature of the ceremony, we kindly ask that you nominate someone who will be present in person in Kraków, as certificates are presented during the gala only. Registration is available at https://lumen2026.com/. Attendance is free of charge and the conference is held in English.
