TNMU Scientist Took Part in the Digestive Disease Week
On May 16-27, 2024, the Head of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology, Head of the Regional Centre of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Igor Hospodarskyy, took part in the American gastroenterological week Digestive Disease Week, which was held in the city of Washington (USA). On May 24-25, the TNMU scientist also attended a number of practical training courses of the Digestive Disease Week for continuing professional development.




During this time, Professor Igor Hospodarskyy participated in a number of events:
- panel presentation of the research on topic “The study of the liver fibrosis progression after COVID-19 has been performed in patients with different body weight”;
- new diagnostic technologies were studied: the use of complex instrumental and laboratory methods for determining the stage of liver fibrosis, conducting MRI elastography of the liver and spleen, steatometry of the liver, new instrumental and laboratory tests for determining the activity of autoimmune diseases of the liver and intestines;
- new medical technologies were mastered: new approaches to the treatment of patients after a liver transplant, modern methods of antifibrotic therapy for chronic liver damage, the latest methods of using immunobiological drugs for the treatment of autoimmune diseases of the liver and intestines.

The acquired knowledge and skills will be applied in the diagnostic and treatment process in order to introduce the principles of evidence-based medicine. The received information on the latest achievements of world medical science will be used in the research and teaching process at TNMU, as well as in the medical practice in health care institutions in the city of Ternopil and Ternopil region. In addition, knowledge and skills will be disseminated among university scientists and gastroenterologists of Ukraine with the help of lectures and presentations.

Igor Hospodarskyy had the opportunity to meet with Yurii Dobchanskyi, Head of the Slavic and Germanic Studies Division of the US Library of Congress. He also had the opportunity to visit the monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine in the city of Washington.


During the celebration of the National Day of the US Armed Forces, Professor I. Hospodarskyy visited the military memorials of the city of Washington and the Arlington Military Cemetery.
