XII Scientific Symposium “Immunopathology in Diseases of the Respiratory and Digestive Systems” was Held at TNMU
On October 10-11, 2024, the XII Scientific Symposium with international participation “Immunopathology in Diseases of the Respiratory and Digestive Systems” took place at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. As per tradition, the symposium was organized by the faculty of the Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care, and Clinical Immunology Department, along with the course of Phthisiology at the Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine Department and Phthisiology.
Ivan Klishch, Vice-Rector for Research at TNMU, gave the opening address.

Among the international participants, there were four presentations. Professor Joanna Domagała-Kulawik (Instytut Nauk Klinicznych Uczelnia Medyczna im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie, Warszawa. Polska) delivered a presentation “Immune-Related Adverse Events of Cancer Immunotherapy.”


Krzysztof Grzesik, General Director of the Małopolski Szpital Chorуb Płuc i Rehabilitacji im. Edmunda Wojtyły (Jaroszowiec, Polska) spoke about the collaboration between Polish and Ukrainian doctors and scientists in his presentation “Polska i Ukraina – Drogi i Bariery Eradykacji Gruźlicy do Roku 2030.”


Leading Ukrainian specialists and scientists also delivered reports.
Academician Valentyna Chopyak, the Chief Expert in Clinical Immunology of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University), presented a report on “Activated Viral Infections and Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.”

Professor Zaykov Serhiy, President of the Ukrainian Association of Allergists (P. Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine) presented a report, “Integra: An Innovative Approach to Managing Patients with Allergic Diseases.”

Professor Liliya Todoriko (Bukovinian State Medical University, Kharkiv National Medical University) presented a report on “The Main Clinical Manifestations of the Remote Consequences of Post-COVID Syndrome.”

Professor Liudmyla Konopkina (Dnipropetrovsk State Medical University) gave an exciting presentation for practicing doctors, “Shortness of Breath in the Post-COVID Period: What to Do?”

The issue of fighting tuberculosis remains relevant in Ukraine and worldwide. Professor Yuriy Valetskyi (Volyn Medical Institute) delivered an engaging report on “The Tuberculosis Situation in Ukraine and Proposals for Improvement.”

Ternopil National Medical University was represented by:

Professor Ihor Hospodarskyi presented “Steatohepatitis: Modern Diagnostic and Therapeutic Possibilities.”

Professor Oksana Boyarchuk presented “Gastrointestinal Manifestations of Inborn Errors of Immunity.”

A total of 53 presentations were heard during the plenary and sectional sessions of the symposium.
