TNMU Teachers Participated in the International Primary Immunodeficiencies Congress (IPIC 2023)

Representatives of the Department of Children’s Diseases and Paediatric Surgery Professor Oksana Boyarchuk, Associate Professor Tetyana Hariyan and Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology Nadiya Reha participated in the International Primary Immunodeficiencies Congress (IPIC2023), which took place on November 7-10, 2023 in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

The congress brought together nearly 900 participants: clinicians and scientists interested in inborn deficiencies of immunity, representatives of patient organizations, nurses, industry representatives and other interested parties.

The Ukrainian delegation this year was one of the largest.

During the congress, the issues of improving the diagnosis and screening of new-borns for severe combined immunodeficiencies, improving the diagnosis and treatment of neurological manifestations in primary immunodeficiencies, the treatment of oncopathology in congenital immune errors, progress in the treatment of primary immunodeficiencies (the use of targeted therapy, transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells, novelties in replacement immunoglobulin therapy). We had the honour to personally meet Martine Pergent – President of the international patient organization IPOPI and Professor Frank Staal, who is Professor of Molecular Biology of Stem Cells at the Leiden University School of Medicine, Co-Director of the LUMC Flow Cytometry Core Facility and holds teaching positions at the Delft University of Technology and Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, Netherlands.

A panel report was presented at the congress, the materials of which were included in the collection of abstracts of the IPIC 2023 congress. Participation in this event gave an opportunity to visit the exhibition in order to get acquainted with new modern technologies used in providing clinical care and laboratory diagnosis of primary immunodeficiencies and screening of new-borns.онгресі було представлено стендову доповідь, матеріали якої були включені у збірник тез конгресу IPIC 2023. Участь у цьому заході дала можливість відвідати виставку з метою ознайомлення з новими сучасними технологіями, які використовуються під час надання клінічної допомоги і лабораторної діагностики первинних імунодефіцитів та скринінінгу новонароджених.

Also, as part of the visit, we had the opportunity to visit the ERASMUS MC clinic, which is one of the largest in Europe, and got acquainted with the capacity of its clinical and scientific laboratory.
