TNMU Ranks First among Medical Universities of Ukraine in Winter Version of Webometrics Rating

On the first day of February 2023, a new version of the Webometrics ranking (Ranking Web of Universities – https://webometrics.info/en/Europe/Ukraine%20) was published, which reflects the activities of higher education institutions during the second half of 2022. Ternopil National Medical University took first place among medical universities of Ukraine and tenth among more than 200 Ukrainian institutions of higher education. In the winter version of the ranking, the activities of more than 31,000 world higher education institutions were analysed.

When determining the position of the university in the rating, the developers take into account the following indicators:

Visibility – the number of external sources that contain backlinks to the institution’s web pages – calculated according to the indicators of Ahrefs and Majestic tools – 50%.

Transparency – the number of citations by top authors of the institution according to Google Scholar Citations – 10%.

Excellence – the number of articles by the institution’s researchers that are among the 10% most cited in 27 disciplines according to Scimago calculations – 40%.

The Webometrics rating has been compiled since 2004 by one of the largest scientific institutions in Europe – the Spanish National Research Council.

The main goal of the rating is to promote academic presence on the Internet, maintain open access to significantly increase the transfer of scientific and cultural knowledge in universities around the world.
