TNMU Student Won the Capital Cup Qualifying Massage Contest

On October 11, 2020 the first massage contest “Capital Cup” took place at “KvitoCenter (Flower Centre)” in Ternopil.

This contest allowed recognizing the most skilled massage professionals, and the participants had the opportunity to declare themselves and their skills in public, to gain unique experience, new knowledge and improve their professional expertise.

10 participants took part in the contest: three 4th-year medical students (Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy specialty) of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University – Nazarii Hapii, Oksana Cherniakova, Valeria Kondratiuk. The other seven participants represented various institutions of Ternopil.

The contest was held in an open format: there were five massage tables in the hall, where students and qualified massage therapists demonstrated their skills and abilities for 30 minutes.

During the massage contest “CAPITAL  CUP” in Ternopil the master degree students of TNMU, that is a partner of the Erasmus+ project “Innovative Rehabilitation Education – Introduction of new master’s degree programs in Ukraine 2018-2021” (REHAB) (presented by a banner), had the opportunity to present the project, their studying according to new learning programs, answered questions of students of other universities and shared their impressions of the project with all participants of the event.

The best massage experts judged during the contest:

– Oksana Petryshyn is a four-time record holder of Ukraine and Guinness in massage techniques. She is also the vice-president of the organization “Health of a Business Woman of Ukraine”, a member of the board of the NGO “Planet of Free People”, coordinator of national records of Ukraine, owner of a massage salon “BODILINE”, public figure, volunteer, organizer of many charitable projects in the city of Ternopil.

Natalia Davybida is an Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy, Ergoherapy and Physical Education of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University and the head of the SUNRISE Centre for Training and Development of Massage Therapists.

Ivanna Boiko is an expert masseur and chief florist of Ternopil region, the owner of the flower market network “KvitoCenter”, initiator of the charity project “Within touching distance”, the Head of the Eco-Project “Christmas tree in a pot”.

The contest provided for master classes by the best masseurs of Ternopil.

According to the results of the contest, three best specialists of the qualifying contest reached the final, which takes place in Kyiv. Valeria Kondratiuk, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Medicine (Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy specialty), has won the contest.

Mariana Byk, a practicing masseur who passed a massage course at Oksana Petryshyn’s BODILINE studio, was the second.

Halyna Pidruchna, a practicing masseur having more than 7 years of experience, who works at the NeoClinic Medical Centre, was the third.

We appreciate the invitation for this event of the TNMU students who had an opportunity to present their knowledge and skills in practice provided by the organizers of the Capital Cup massage contest in Ternopil. We are also grateful to the administration of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University for assistance and the opportunity for future physical therapists to take part in the contest.
