The Working Group of the “Nursing” Program Presented the Educational Program to the Academic Community of Cherkasy Medical Academy

Since 2018, Ternopil National Medical University has successfully implemented the educational and scientific program in the specialty 223 “Nursing.” The relevance and quality of the program are evidenced by the fact that five domestic students have already graduated as Doctors of Philosophy. In 2024, the program also welcomed its first American doctoral students.
The ongoing development of the PhD program in “Nursing” involves active efforts by the program’s guarantor and working group to promote the program and engage with stakeholders, potential employers, and master’s graduates.
On November 8, 2024, the program guarantor met with faculty, master’s students, and graduates of Cherkasy Medical Academy.
The event, attended by over 50 participants, was opened by Vice-Rector for Research Ivan Klishch, who emphasized the importance and timeliness of the meeting and highlighted promising directions for the university’s research.

Cherkasy Medical Academy’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Oleksandra Shevchenko, introduced the academy’s faculty and students participating in the meeting.

Nataliia Potikha, Head of the Postgraduate and Doctoral Department, presented the admission requirements for the doctoral program.
Program guarantor Mariia Marushchak shared the program’s milestones, achievements, and future directions and outlined research areas of previous PhD students who have already earned their degrees in “Nursing.”

Liudmyla Mazur highlighted the activities of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care, and Clinical Immunology, with a particular focus on its extensive collaborations with foreign institutions and the incorporation of these findings into the program.
Together, participants discussed the importance of continuous education for nurses, the structured nature of the program, and the need for greater awareness among students about the possibility of earning a PhD in Nursing. They also decided to distribute informational brochures about the program to master’s level students at Cherkasy Medical Academy.
The PhD program working group sincerely thanked the Cherkasy Medical Academy administration and Rector Inna Hubenko for their active support in promoting this educational and scientific program.
