Olympiad in Histology, Cytology, and Embryology at TNMU

On November 12, 2024, the Department of Histology and Embryology at Ternopil National Medical University held the first stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in “Histology, Cytology, and Embryology.” The event aimed to identify talented students in this fundamental morphological discipline, enhancing their ability to interpret micro preparations and analyze the structure of tissues and organs.

Organization and Jury:

Faculty members of the Department of Histology and Embryology organized the Olympiad. The jury included:

Members: Associate Professors Iryna Hetmaniuk, Larysa Tupol, Olena Shuturma, and Assistants Nataliia Ohinska and Violetta Kulbitska

Chairperson: Professor Zoia Nebesna, Head of the Department

Participants and Tasks:

Second-year medical students participated in the event, showcasing their knowledge and skills by completing a variety of tasks, including:

  • Solving questions from the KROK-1 Unified State Qualification Exam
  • Identifying and describing micro preparations, highlighting structural features of tissues and organs, and specifying staining methods
  • Diagnosing histological images from general and specialized histology

Results:

The jury evaluated each submission, considering knowledge depth, logical presentation, and task accuracy. The winners of the first stage were:

First Prize: Oleksii Kitovskyi (MM-216) and Anastasiia Mekh (MM-218)

Third Prize: Dariia Dobushovska (MM-216) and Daryna Polishchuk (MM-213)

Second Prize: Mariia Bilyk (MM-216) and Diana Kindratenko (MM-213)
