Simulation Training Laboratory for Prosthetists-Orthotists at TNMU Receives New Equipment
At I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, a simulation training laboratory for students specializing in “Prosthetics and Orthotics” is being developed.
Professor Hubert Egger from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH OO) has significantly contributed to this laboratory’s advancement by donating a large batch of specialized equipment to TNMU. This will allow students to acquire and refine practical skills in conditions close to real clinical scenarios.

Charitable support in the form of prosthetic-orthotic devices from Austria complements the set of prosthetic-orthopedic models previously received by the university from the non-profit social enterprise Penta. This greatly expands the potential of the future simulation training laboratory. Thanks to the support of benefactors, the laboratory will be equipped with various prostheses, orthoses, mannequins, and specialized equipment essential for effective student training and hands-on practice.

Students have tested the equipment, familiarized themselves with its functional capabilities, and explored its role in the educational process.
As part of a practical session, future prosthetists-orthotists also visited other simulation training laboratories to gain deeper insight into modern specialist training methods, clinical scenario modeling technologies, and interactive learning approaches. This experience provided them with valuable knowledge and broadened their understanding of the practical application of their expertise in their future careers.

We sincerely thank Professor Hubert Egger for his invaluable support of educational initiatives and his significant contribution to developing modern prosthetics and orthotics in Ukraine! Special thanks to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Austria, Vasyl Khymynets, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria, Volodymyr Kolomiiets, for their support and assistance.
