Visit of Belgian Experts as Part of the Ukrainian-Belgian Educational and Training Project on Palliative Care

As part of the Ukrainian-Belgian educational and training project “Palliative Care,” international palliative care experts visited the Educational and Research Institute of Nursing at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. The visitors included palliative care nurse and expert Conny Verwink and physician Gunther Constandt from Belgium.

During the meeting, the experts delivered an informative presentation for project participants, sharing Belgium’s experience in the field of palliative care. Topics discussed included:

Organizational features and ethical considerations of euthanasia within the Belgian healthcare system

Emergency care for palliative patients

Practical aspects of medical sedation

Following the theoretical session, a hands-on workshop was held, where participants had the opportunity to:

• Learn how to use a subcutaneous analgesic infusion pump
• Practice accurate dosing for continuous and bolus pain management

The event served as a valuable platform for international knowledge exchange and the development of practical skills in palliative care.
