TNMU Representatives Took Part in the Round Table “Student Support Centers: Joint Solutions for Equal Opportunities”

Taras Piatkovskyi, Head of the Center for Counteracting Discrimination and Harassment, and Ihor Drach, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, participated in the round table “Student Support Centers: Joint Solutions for Equal Opportunities,” which was held under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Andrii Vitrenko at the West Ukrainian National University.

The main topic of the discussion was how to ensure equal access for students to educational resources and support services. The speakers — representatives of pilot higher education institutions from different regions of Ukraine — shared their experience with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine’s project “Educational Accessibility: Opening New Opportunities.” As part of this initiative, launched at the request of the First Lady of Ukraine, support centers for students with special needs are being established.

The event provided an opportunity to learn about modern approaches to organizing an inclusive educational environment and to build partnerships with colleagues implementing large-scale projects for creating digitized barrier-free environments, ensuring equal access to education at TNMU.

Rector of the West Ukrainian National University, Oksana Desiatniuk, not only spoke about the implementation of barrier-free principles at her institution but also led a tour of the Immersive Multifunctional Hub, which is part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space.

TNMU is grateful to the organizers for hosting this event. We continue to work on making our educational space comfortable, open, and safe for everyone, regardless of life circumstances or individual needs.
