Another Meeting of the English Speaking Club

At the Department of Foreign Languages of Ternopil National Medical University, another meeting of the English Speaking Club took place as part of the Foreign Languages Week, under the supervision of Associate Professor Mariia Kichula. The event became an important component of a series of initiatives to promote the study of foreign languages and to develop intercultural communication among students.

During the meeting, participants delivered informative presentations on the languages of the world, their origins, development, and their role in modern globalized society. The presentations were distinguished by a high level of preparation and clarity, and they were accompanied by engaging examples and illustrative materials that contributed to a deeper understanding of linguistic diversity and cultural differences.

Special attention was paid to the discussion of current linguistic phenomena, in particular digital language, internet communication, and youth slang. Participants analyzed the impact of modern technologies and social media on speech and outlined trends in the emergence of new words and abbreviations in everyday communication.

The practical part of the event took place in an interactive format. Students completed thematic tasks, including solving crosswords, which helped reinforce vocabulary and activate speaking skills. A particularly engaging activity involved guessing French words, which added a competitive element and broadened participants’ linguistic outlook.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of active engagement, creativity, and interaction. The event not only deepened students’ knowledge of foreign languages but also contributed to the development of communicative competence, critical thinking, and increased motivation for further language learning in a professional context.
