The program provides for consolidation of knowledge on psychology, psychiatry, clinical manifestations of post-traumatic stress disorder, familiarization with additional and new diagnostic methods, principles of medical and non-medical treatment, participation of nurses in the prevention of post-traumatic stress disorders. Modern requirements to the level of education of a nurse include the formation of communication skills, the possession of communicative skills, knowledge of the foundations of psychology, ethics, deontology. Students gain knowledge and skills from the positions of the role and tasks of the nurse in the medical diagnostic process, as well as the human needs according to the Virginia Henderson model.
The development of this program takes into account the current trends in nursing in the field of mental health of the nation, the recommendations of WHO and foreign colleagues.
The proposed course will help to better understand and recognize post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and provides in-depth strategies for helping patients with this condition. The content of the course is based on scientific research and practical experience. It is addressed to health professionals working with individuals and/or patients who are at risk of developing PTSD; for which PTSD has already been diagnosed; who are trying to overcome PTSD; to recover from its consequences. The methodology for teaching the course include traditional teaching methods, including case studies, group work, collective discussion and self-evaluation.
