2020: The beginning of a new era at EUA

As 2020 comes into sight, EUA looks forward to embarking on an
exciting new phase in the Association’s history. As founding
Secretary General Lesley Wilson steps down and her successor
Amanda Crowfoot takes office, EUA will be working with members on
a crucial review process that will result in the development of
the Association’s strategic vision for 2020-2025.

In parallel, the Association looks forward to welcoming members
to its flagship events, including the EUA Annual Conference, the
European Learning & Teaching Forum, the EUA Funding Forum and the
European Quality Assurance Forum. In addition, EUA is counting on
members to feed key studies in 2020, notably on
internationalisation and strategic partnerships like the EU
Commission’s European Universities Initiative. The Association
will also ask for members’ input on the transformative topic of
digitalisation in higher education.

Regarding EU policy work, EUA would like to thank members for
their support in advocating for more EU funding for research in
the #EUInvestInKnowledge campaign. These efforts will continue
into 2020 until the EU has reached an agreement on the
Multiannual Financial Framework.

Last, EUA looks forward to working with members in the future on
the many key topics that are at the heart of our sector’s
mission, including the Bologna Process, institutional
development, Open Science, academic freedom and autonomy,
doctoral education and the impact of universities on global
challenges.

EUA members invited to participate in strategic review

The EUA presidency and Board are leading a profound review of the
Association in order to develop a new strategic vision for
2020-2025. The review aims to identify EUA’s main achievements
and challenges over the past two decades and outline its
objectives regarding membership and advocacy for the years to
come. In this context, EUA will be inviting members shortly to
share their views through a dedicated questionnaire.
