BUP Summer School “Science and Sail” 2026 – Call for Applications!
Students and PhD candidates are invited to apply for the Baltic University Programme (BUP) Summer School “Science and Sail”, taking place 2–9 August 2026 in Klaipėda, Lithuania, and Liepāja, Latvia.
This unique summer school focuses on the Baltic Sea environment and coastal development, combining academic learning with hands-on experience both on land and at sea. Participants will learn from leading experts from across the region and even spend a day sailing aboard the vessel Brabander.
Who can apply? Open to all study fields – no prior knowledge of the Baltic Sea environment required
- Bachelor’s and Master’s students from BUP participating universities
- PhD students (limited spots available, with additional teaching/mentoring roles)

- Location: Klaipėda (Lithuania) & Liepāja (Latvia)
- Fee: Free of charge
- Accommodation & meals: Fully covered (2–9 August)
- Travel costs: Covered by participants
- Credits: 3 ECTS awarded by Klaipėda University upon completion
Selection criteria: Motivation, academic background, and field of study.

– Language Certificate (at least B2 English);
– Documents confirming participation in scientific work, international programs or volunteer activities (if any).
