TNMU Representative Takes Part in the Polish-Ukrainian Science and Technology Forum in Warsaw
The Polish-Ukrainian Science and Technology Forum was held in Warsaw on 7–11 September 2026. The event brought together representatives of research and educational institutions from Ukraine and Poland to promote international scientific cooperation, innovation, and the integration of Ukrainian science into the European Research Area.
I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU) was represented by Professor Mykhailo Korda, Vice-Rector for International Relations and European Integration.

Over the course of five days, participants worked at leading Polish research and innovation institutions. A significant part of the Forum’s programme took place at the Pałac Staszica in Warsaw, a historic building that houses the Polish Academy of Sciences. The programme combined expert presentations, training sessions, practical workshops, study visits, and meetings aimed at establishing new partnerships between Ukrainian and Polish researchers.
The first day focused on opportunities for international scientific cooperation and the specific features of the Polish research ecosystem. Particular attention was paid to practical experience in the commercialisation of research results, technology transfer, and cooperation between universities and the innovation sector.
An important component of the Forum was a study visit to the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) of Poland. Participants explored practical aspects of financial management and reporting in Horizon Europe projects. This experience is of particular practical importance for TNMU, which is consistently expanding its participation in international grant programmes and developing new research consortia.

Separate training sessions focused on the preparation, implementation, and reporting of European Innovation Council (EIC) projects, as well as the modern “Safe and Sustainable by Design” concept, which integrates human health and environmental safety requirements at the stage of developing new technologies.
One of the central programme blocks was the “Science for Policy” training conducted by experts from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. Participants explored effective ways of using scientific evidence in policymaking, cooperation between researchers and public authorities, and transforming research findings into practical recommendations for decision-making.
As part of the Forum, participants also visited the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation, where they learned about the organisation of applied research, technological development, and cooperation between academia and industry.
The practical workshops on the use of artificial intelligence in research and modern approaches to scientific communication attracted particular interest. During the “Science Speech Workshop”, participants developed their skills in presenting research findings to different audiences, identifying potential partners, and building effective international scientific communication.
The Forum concluded with a final conference, during which participants presented the results of their group work, discussed prospects for further Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, and explored opportunities for launching new joint research initiatives.
“Participation in such events provides an opportunity to communicate directly with representatives of European research and innovation institutions, find partners, and plan future international projects. For TNMU, opportunities to participate in Horizon Europe and EIC programmes, as well as the development of technology transfer and the commercialisation of our research results, are particularly relevant. The experience gained in Warsaw will be used to strengthen the university’s international project activities,” said Professor Mykhailo Korda.
The project was implemented and funded within the framework of the Polish development cooperation programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, with the support of the Mieroszewski Centre.
