The Power of Voice and the Art of Public Speaking: TNMU Hosts Three-Day Training for Red Cross Representatives

A three-day public speaking training session for heads of key areas of the Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi Regional Organizations of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society was held at Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on 9–11 September 2026.

The training was delivered by lecturers from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Nursing at TNMU — Associate Professors Svitlana Danchak, Yuliia Danylevych, and Oksana Prokopchuk.

Over the course of three days, the participants worked on developing effective public speaking skills and confident communication with audiences. Particular attention was paid to voice and breathing techniques, the structure and logic of a speech, non-verbal communication, establishing rapport with the audience, maintaining listeners’ attention, storytelling, and improvisation.

A separate training module focused on developing the ability to act confidently in unpredictable situations, quickly adapt to changing circumstances, respond to challenging questions, and maintain contact with the audience even in situations of heightened emotional tension.

A significant part of the training was conducted in a practical format. The participants honed their newly acquired skills through individual and group exercises and impromptu speaking activities. The step-by-step learning process enabled them not only to master individual public speaking techniques but also to better understand their own speaking style, identify their strengths, and develop the skills necessary for professional interaction with different audiences.

Three days of intensive collaborative work created a space for professional development, practical training, and experience sharing. After all, confident public speaking is not about striving to speak perfectly — it is about being able to communicate your ideas clearly, see and understand your audience, and remain true to yourself.
