Achievements and High Quality of TNMU Education were Presented during the Days of Ukraine in Berlin and Brandenburg
On September 16-17, 2021, the Days of Ukraine took place in Berlin and Brandenburg (Germany). The event was arranged for the 30th Ukraine’s Independence Day and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Institute for Eastern European Studies of Freie Universität Berlin.
For many years, Germany has been a reliable and strategic partner of Ukraine in science, technology and innovation. I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University cooperates with the Akkon University of Human Sciences (Berlin, Germany) and the Institute for Research in International Assistance IRIA (Germany). TNMU staff are participants and winners of programs funded and supported by the DAAD, participate in events supported by the Federal Ministry of Health of Germany. The initiative of Ukrainian and German scientists, implemented by the German-Ukrainian Academic Society (http://ukrainet.eu/), which is part of the Ukrainian International Academic Network, is significant in the development of inter-societal bilateral scientific cooperation. The society supports the active exchange of information about the possibilities of cooperation as well as scholarships and grants for implementation of research projects.

The conference was chaired by Professor Theocharis Grigoriadis (Institute for East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin) and supported by the German-Ukrainian Academic Society https://ukrainet.eu, and the DAAD (Go-East program funded by the German Ministry of Education and Science (BMBF) The main motive of the event is promotion of German-Ukrainian academic cooperation and building a stronger Europe together, development of cooperation between educational and research institutions of Germany and Ukraine and other partners in Berlin/Brandenburg regions.
The Days of Ukraine in Berlin and Brandenburg were organized to present to the students, graduates, teachers and researchers, as well as the public in Berlin and Brandenburg the academic space of Ukraine, by showing a number of successful German-Ukrainian cooperation projects and highlighting funding opportunities.

The results of training courses “Management of Internationalization and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation 2020-2021” and “Management of Internationalization and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation 2020-2021” Leibniz University Hannover, LUH) and THEA Ukraine (FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, FH Münster) were highlighted in the conference. These courses are supported by DAAD for institutions of higher education in Ukraine in order to facilitate internationalization processes, starting with Internationalization@Home, Curriculum Internationalization, Internationalization of Campus, Internationalization of Research and other areas. The program is designed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge of various aspects of internationalization, concepts and strategies for internationalization of higher education in different countries and to enable them to manage relevant processes and objectives, as well as to promote internationalization of their universities. The participants learn how to deal with all aspects of academic mobility and research cooperation, as well as how to develop and implement an appropriate internationalization strategy.
During the visit, the results of cooperation between TNMU and Akkon University for Human Sciences (Berlin, Germany) in healthcare were presented to the community. Our institutions have delivered a series of webinars on fighting with COVID-19 and responding of health systems in Ukraine and around the world.
Joint annual international Ukrainian-German symposia “Public Health in the Social and Educational Space – Challenges in Reform and Development Prospects” was held as well. The third symposium took place on September 22-23, 2021 online.
Under the program developed jointly with the experts of Akkon University guided by Professors Timo Ulrichs and Gaby Feldman, the lecture process at Ternopil National University prepares masters of public health (disease prevention, health promotion and life expectancy extension, health care management, epidemiology). In 2021, the first graduation of Masters in Public Health took place.

As part of the Days of Ukraine in Berlin and Brandenburg, the final competition of the 5th UKRAINET PhD Thesis Presentation Contest was held and the winners were announced.
The second day of the event ended with the annual DUAG meeting.
