Art Evening with the Kobzar

The multifaceted genius of the great Kobzar is revealed not only through poetry but also through painting. On March 13, 2025, at the initiative of the Center for Educational Work and Cultural Development, students of the Medical Faculty of TNMU participated in a masterclass led by renowned Ternopil artist Rustam Davletov. The event aimed to explore Taras Shevchenko’s artistic legacy.

The guest of the university has repeatedly proven that painting is accessible to everyone, as he teaches both adults and children and works extensively with wounded soldiers. For medical students, he selected the pastel “Fort Kara-Butak” (1848-1850), created during one of the most challenging periods in Shevchenko’s life when he was forbidden to paint.

Art unites, inspires, and heals, and the students were delighted to try their hand at painting. They created wonderful artworks, relaxed through this session of art therapy, and made a charitable contribution by joining a fundraiser for Ukrainian defenders.

We sincerely thank Rustam Davletov for conducting the masterclass, Associate Professor of the L.Ya. Kovalchuk Department of Surgery No. 1 with Urology and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Ivan Smachylo, and Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 Iryna Smachylo for their participation. Special thanks to the students of group MM-401, Veronika Chorna for organizing the event, and the TNMU Mental Health Center for their continuous support of our initiatives.
