Professor from Austria Conducted a Practical Class for TNMU Students of the “Prosthetics and Orthotics” Specialty

On September 8, 2025, students of the “Prosthetics and Orthotics” specialty at Ternopil National Medical University had a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge under the guidance of a leading expert from Austria. Professor Hubert Egger, who teaches at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, conducted a practical class for future prosthetists, which became a landmark event for the development of the field in Ukraine.

Professor Egger, who is not only a lecturer but also an innovator in prosthetics, emphasized that prosthetics is not just a medical specialty. According to him, it is a field that requires constant development, research, and implementation of new technologies. He urged students not to limit themselves to studying existing methods but to strive for their own inventions and the launch of startups.

He underlined that future prosthetists and orthotists should see themselves not just as performers but as a driving force of progress. Such specialists can create more advanced, functional, and comfortable prostheses for patients. In the context of growing demand for high-quality solutions for people with disabilities, especially during wartime and post-war periods, the training of such professionals becomes critically important for Ukraine.

The visit of Professor Egger and his initiative to hold a practical class demonstrate that cooperation with leading international educational institutions is key to preparing top-level specialists. By investing in the education of prosthetists and orthotists, Ukraine not only provides its citizens with quality medical care but also paves the way for the development of its own technological startups and innovative solutions in this vital field.

This event once again confirmed that Ukrainian medical education is actively integrating into the global community and is oriented toward the most modern standards.
