Internship of a TNMU Associate Professor at the Medical University of Warsaw within the Erasmus+ Academic Mobility Programme
From May 25 to 30, 2026, Oksana Sydorenko, Associate Professor at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, completed a professional internship under the Erasmus+ KA171 Project Training Staff Mobility programme at the Medical University of Warsaw (Poland) (https://www.wum.edu.pl/en).
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen partnership ties between our higher education institutions, exchange professional experience, and gain insight into the organization of educational, clinical, and research activities at one of Europe’s leading medical universities.

The Medical University of Warsaw (Warszawski Uniwersytet Medyczny) is the largest medical higher education institution in Poland. Students are enrolled in 14 fields of study, and the university also offers postgraduate education, doctoral programmes, specialization courses, and professional development training. The university has more than 9,000 students, including over 700 international students. Nearly 1,700 academic staff members work at the university, including approximately 170 professors.

A bilateral cooperation agreement has been signed between our universities to facilitate the exchange of experience in education, implementation of academic exchange programmes, research projects, seminars, conferences, symposia, and other collaborative activities.

Associate Professor Oksana Sydorenko of the Department of Emergency Medicine completed her professional internship at the First Department and Clinic of Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw under the supervision of Professor Marcin Grabowski, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Renata Glowczynska, both members of the Polish Cardiac Society.

Professor Renata Glowczynska introduced the department’s curricula, modern approaches to teaching cardiology, and the clinical units of the cardiology clinic. Currently, the clinic employs 80 physicians, 180 nurses and technical staff members, 15 professors, 8 holders of the Doctor of Medical Sciences degree, 9 PhD holders, 33 cardiologists, and 63 residents. The clinic comprises the following divisions: General Cardiology, Intensive Care, Invasive Cardiology, Clinical Electrocardiology, Day Care Unit, and Outpatient Cardiology Services.
