TNMU Paramedic Students Took Part in Tactical Training on Pre-Medical and Medical Aid in Emergency Situations

On September 27-28, 2023, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Ternopil region hosted an educational meeting with the heads of medical units of the State Emergency Service, other health care institutions, educational institutions of civil defence, enterprises, institutions and organizations, which fall under the management of the State Emergency Service.

On September 27, 2023, the participants visited TNMU Simulation Training Centre “TESIMED”, where they had the opportunity to learn about the activities of this university unit. Moreover, Professor Arsen Hudyma gave a lecture “Simulation training as a direction for qualitative changes in the provision of medical care”, in which he highlighted not only the technologies of simulation training in medicine, but also the effectiveness of their application in the training of rescuers. After that, the attendees became participants in a work-shop on the organization and provision of pre-medical and medical aid during emergency situations, as well as medical triage. The lecturer focused attention on the role of rescuers of the State Emergency Service and their medical service in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations and their interaction with emergency medical personnel and the police.

On September 28, 2023, on the territory of the construction site, tactical and special training on the providing pre-medical and emergency medical aid in emergency situations was held with the interaction of the disaster medicine service and the units of the civil protection service. Third-year paramedic students took part in this event. Some of them (Andrii Onyskiv, Stanislav Martseniuk, Sofiia Baranovych) formed the emergency medical aid team and demonstrated their knowledge and skills along with the professional teams of the Ternopil Regional Centre of emergency medical aid and disaster medicine. This was the first trip of paramedic students to study on the new ambulance vehicle received by TNMU as part of the WHO project on training emergency medical aid specialists. At the same time, all third-year paramedics were “victim” participants and had the opportunity to observe the technology of rescue and the interaction of emergency medical aid specialists, rescuers of the State Emergency Service and patrol policemen.
