New Mentoring Staff of TNMU Starts Work

In 2020, the “Mentor” project was officially launched at Ternopil National Medical University, which until now has operated for three years in the form of supervision of senior students over first-year students. On the initiative of the Head of the Centre for Educational and Cultural Development, Marta Rudenko, and her deputy, Olena Pokryshko, a mentoring institute was launched at TNMU three years ago, which is designed to help newly arrived students better adapt to the educational process.

As the leaders of this project (Anna Shkrobot, Anastasia Shkrobot and Valeria Blahuliak) note, during their studies at the medical university, first-year students have questions about the right choice of profession, since it becomes clear from the first classes that medical students must study a lot and constantly work on self-improvement.

Most often, it is difficult for first-year students to get used to a new system of education, an unknown team, and a teaching style (a lot of material needs to be worked out by themselves, preparing for the exam).

It should be mentioned that for many years in a row the leader of the mentoring movement at TNMU was Daryna Kaminska, a 2023 graduate, who passed the baton to her deputy, Anastasia Shkrobot.

This year, a new team of project leaders announced the recruitment of those who wish to be mentors. First, senior students filled out a questionnaire, then they were interviewed. In total, there were 160 willing to try themselves as a mentor.

Therefore, TNMU has an updated mentor team from among motivated, active and experienced senior students who are ready to make every effort to help first-year students adapt to the new stage of life more easily!

The mentoring program at TNMU provides:

• Constant interaction and support

• Exchange of experience

• Assistance in education, providing necessary materials

• Creation of a friendly atmosphere in the new team
