TNMU Students Visited the Children in the “BabyKo” Centre for Assistance to Children with Down Syndrome
TNMU students Tetiana Shevchuk (MM-220), Yuliia Pavonska (MM-206), Khrystyna Slobodian (MM-206) and Zhanna Kapuschak (MM-206) handed over a balancing hemisphere to the non-governmental organization “BabyKo” Centre for Assistance to Children with Down Syndrome”.

At the beginning of March, a collection of funds was announced for the Day of People with Down syndrome, part of which was transferred to the account of the centre for a health trip to Transcarpathia.

Recently, together with the “Box of Courage” team, students bought and presented a balancing hemisphere to the students of “BabyKo”. Exercises with this device are intended for the formation of motor planning; the feeling of one’s own body, the development of visual-motor coordination, the development of the accuracy of hand movements, the development of gross motor skills, the development of interhemispheric interaction. For children who visit “BabyKo”, it is extremely important to develop the skills which are quite simple for an ordinary child.

This hemisphere began to be used in training on the same day. The students witnessed how the children balanced, standing on it and performing exercises that the psychologists of the centre asked them to perform.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone who actively participated in fundraising and support for children with Down syndrome. We are preparing for new events dedicated to International Children’s Day. We can give warmth and joy.
