TNMU Students Made Amulets for the “Ray of the Sun” Charity Fund

On October 31, 2022, a charity workshop on weaving solar horses was held in the library of Ternopil National Medical University. It was attended by students of various ages and faculties of our university.

The choice to weave a horse was not accidental. The horse is one of the most ancient and traditional amulets of our people. The image of a horse is associated with the sun. It brings luck, abundance, light and warmth to the house. Traditionally, the solar horse is considered a male talisman. The horse is also a defining part of our culture. It symbolizes not only the sun, but also the protection of our people, their will and invincible spirit.

The workshop was conducted by Ternopil volunteer Olena Mudra, who heads the “Ray of the Sun” charitable foundation. The craftswoman has repeatedly organized charity events to help the Armed Forces.

The event was attended by a military chaplain – Father Volodymyr Andrukhiv from the Ternopil 44th Separate Artillery Brigade, who consecrated the products.

Participants of the workshop, guests of the library express their appreciation to the employees of the university library, who created a warm atmosphere for this event. Liliia Berezhnytska (MM-615) and Tetiana Shevchuk (MM-220) organized the event and invited the students of the Faculty of Medicine.

Everyone tried to create their own unique amulet. As the students noted, today we were able to create an invincible atmosphere in which we “forged” and “hardened” the solar horses.

All products will be sent to an auction in Slovakia, the proceeds from which will be used for military applications. Gurnish Panesar, a student of the International Students Faculty, also donated a hand-painted T-shirt for the auction (such a workshop was held earlier at our university). Olena Mudra helped our volunteers who make trench candles by providing wax and paraffin. All this material has been used, and the candles are already serving our defenders.

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Armed Forces!
