TNMU Hosted LXV Scientific-Applied Conference “Achievements of Clinical and Experimental Medicine”

On June 9, 2022, the Final LXV scientific-applied conference “Achievements of clinical and experimental medicine” was hosted in I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.

According to the tradition, researchers of the University reported on their achievements in breakout sessions in the following areas: “Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Psychiatry and Neurology”, “Surgery, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Traumatology”, “Achievements of Modern Dentistry”, “Maternity and Child Protection”, “Experimental Medicine, Normal and Pathological Morphology, Achievements of Modern Pharmacy”, “Innovations in Higher Medical Education, Reviews and Analytical Papers”.

The event was held online and was attended by doctors, scientists from different parts of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk.

The participants of the conference were greeted by TNMU Vice-Rector for Research, Honoured Master of Sciences and Technologies of Ukraine, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ivan Klishch.

“Unfortunately, our traditional, this year 65th, conference ‘Achievements of Clinical and Experimental Medicine’” takes place during the wartime, but we must work and be as effective as possible for our country, do our jobs well, help, volunteer and, thus, bring closer our day of victory”, – Vice-Rector said.

The report “Risk stratification of patients with acute coronary syndrome and concomitant carotid artery disease” was presented by Roman Komorovsky, MD, TNMU Department of Internal Medicine № 2.

Ass. Prof. Roman Komorovsky noted that the coexistence of atherosclerotic lesions of the carotid and coronary arteries is a challenge for both cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons and neurologists. Patients with combined narrowing of the carotid and coronary arteries are a particularly high-risk group and there is still no consensus on their treatment.

The speech by the head of TNMU Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology, Professor Olena Venger on the topic: “Experience of working with internally displaced persons with mental illness” presented particular interest to the conference participants.

Prof. Olena Venger spoke about the results of the study of physiological, psycho-emotional, socio-psychological and informational factors that caused psychological disorders in internally displaced persons.

The topical issue revealed in the speech on “Pathogenetic substantiation of thrombosis with underlying oncopathology” was discussed by Associate Professor of L. Ya. Kovalchuk Department of Surgery № 1 with Urology and Minimally Invasive Surgery Petro Bodnar.

Professor Dmytro Vakulenko, Head of the Department of Medical Informatics, spoke about the current possibilities of using a blood pressure monitor.

Professor Ivan Klishch summed up the work of the plenary meeting and breakout sessions, thanked all the participants of the conference for their effective and creative work and wished victory to all of us.

The event ended with the adoption of important decisions reflected in the resolution.
