TNMU Students Taught Lyceum Students the Fundamentals of Home Care

The 5th-year medical students Alina Zhemela, Olexandr Terenda, 6th-year student Anastasia Smachylo and Associate Professor Iryna Smachylo presented terms and conditions of admission to TNMU and delivered a course of home care for pupils of grades 9-11 of Ternopil Secondary School Law Lyceum No. 2. The event was supported by the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University that is headed by Professor Nadia Pasechko.

In emergencies a person may even die before the arrival of the emergency medical team (acute circulatory delay, massive bleeding, airway obstruction, etc.). Therefore, the assistance of the witnesses of the event with no medical education is really important in emergency medical care.

The course was based on the current American protocol of home care. The main aspects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and methods of temporary cessation of bleeding were presented. “Unfortunately, today there are very few people who know how to properly provide home care without endangering themselves and without worsening the condition of the victim, so we, as future doctors, decided to help overcome this socio-medical problem,” noticed the organizers.

Some videos about I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University were shown to the pupils as well. Prospective entrants could see the educational process, peculiarities of student life and get comprehensive answers to their questions.
