TNMU has Agreed with Lithuanian Representatives on the Program of Double Diplomas for Paramedics
On April 14, 2021, a Lithuanian delegation headed by Ritis Malashauskas, the Chairman of the Lithuanian Paramedic Association, and two graduates of St. Ignatius Loyola College visited I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. The Lithuanian school provides training of paramedics.
The guests met with Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the rector of TNMU. During the meeting the delegation assumed that one of the purposes of the visit is to establish close cooperation with paramedic students of our university. In Lithuania, the graduates of St. Ignatius Loyola College have established a youth centre of the Association of Paramedics and want to join with Ukrainians to develop this field in Europe. For young people, this is a useful interaction, communication and professional development.
The launching a double degree program, which enables the graduates to receive diplomas of the College of St. Ignatius Loyola and TNMU, was also discussed. The implementation of this educational project will allow training of paramedics of Kaunas medical school and TNMU available to young people in Lithuania and Ukraine.
Ritis Malashauskas assured of the readiness of Lithuanian colleagues to welcome our students for training in the emergency medical care. He also wishes that students of St. Ignatius Loyola College come to train their skills at the TNMU Training Centre for Medical Simulation. It should be noted that Lithuanian colleagues recognized our centre as one of the best in Europe. In addition, there is already some experience in the academic exchange of students and teachers. For example, last year Lithuanian students trained at TNMU for a week. Their visit coincided with the organization of the Kremenets Medical Rally. TNMU teachers also presented training on experienced resuscitation for students of St. Ignatius Loyola College for two weeks.
During the meeting with the Lithuanian delegation, the Rector of TNMU confirmed his readiness to implement the double degree program.
