TNMU Teachers Took Part in the National Interdisciplinary Research and Training Conference “Inclusive Education: Idea, Strategy, Result”

On April 8, 2021, the teachers of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of TNMU took part in the 1st National Interdisciplinary Research and Training Conference “Inclusive Education: Idea, Strategy, Result”; it took place at Ternopil National Pedagogical University.

The event was managed by the rector of TNPU, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Bohdan Bohdanovych Buyak and the Head of the Inclusive Resource Centre of TNPU, PhD, Associate Professor Zoriana Ihorivna Udych.

The director of the Poroshenko Charitable Foundation, PhD Maryna Anatoliivna Poroshenko welcomed the participants.

The teachers of Ternopil National Medical University took part in the event. The Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Olena Petrivna Venher expanded on the peculiarities of medical care and psychological support for the students enrolled in the program of inclusive education. She also stressed the need for interdisciplinary communication and joint work between the universities in urgent problems of exceptional children.

Olena Petrivna stressed that the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology, is located at the Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise “Ternopil Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital” of the Ternopil Regional Council, with the assistance of General Director Volodymyr Vasyliovych Shkrobot and the Rector of TNMU, Doctor of Medical Sciences Mykhaylo Mykhailovych Korda, is implementing a rehabilitation system for exceptional children. The children’s department of the hospital meets the world requirements for diagnosis, treatment, psychotherapeutic, physiotherapeutic and pedagogical correction. The scientific potential of the department and highly qualified doctors can work together to help their patients, improve their socialization and quality of life.

Assistant of the department Tetiana Ivanivna Ivanitska shared the results of a study on the depressive disorders and suicidal tendencies among the students enrolled in the program of inclusive education at Ternopil secondary schools.

So, the aim of the conference was to consolidate the achievements of the introduction of inclusion into the education in Ukraine; popularization of the best innovative experience in providing high quality educational services to people with health problems, special educational needs; joining the efforts of different specialists to create an inclusive educational environment; determination of prospects for development of inclusive education in Ukraine and current areas of scientific and methodological research on this topic.

The participants of the event are grateful to the organizers, in particular Zoriana Ihorivna Udych, for the opportunity to take part in the conference, exchange valuable experience and plan the vector of further interuniversity cooperation.
