The Ukrainian-Swiss project “Development of Medical Education” aims at improvement of the quality of health care by improving medical education. The project pays special attention to development of competencies, as well as the skills of (future) family doctors and nurses. Within the project, the institutions of higher education, project partners, are going to be supported in creation of centres for clinical skills development by students, interns, who will provide high-quality services. That is why Laboratories for Clinical Skills will be established in pilot institutions of higher education within the project and supplied together with the pilot institutions of higher education. The laboratory in each institution of higher education will be very similar to real working conditions of family doctors and nurses. To equip the family doctor’s office, the laboratory of clinical skills of primary care, main equipment will be provided to the educational institution within the project that allows reproducing the family doctor’s room. This equipment enables practicing most of the practical skills performed by a family doctor and/or nurse. The equipment will be purchased in September 2020 (through an open international tender) and the delivery is expected in December 2020 – March 2021.
During the event, Hlib Bitiukov, the coordinator of the nursing project, initiated a discussion and a workshop on “What should be done to prepare the Laboratory of Clinical Skills (of a family doctor) after coming back home?”
On September 25, the seminar participants together with Mykhailo Vynnytskyi (National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), discussed the following issues: “What is the difference between the curriculum and academic program?”, “Compliance matrix”, “Competences, skills, knowledge: why is it so difficult?”, and took part in workshops testing themselves as “experts” of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education; also they discussed and analysed information on self-assessment of the academic program.
