TNMU opens the Chinese-Ukrainian Centre for Research Projects on Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells
In order to open the Chinese-Ukrainian Centre for Research Projects on Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells, the Deputy Directors-General of the International Training Center “One Zone – One Way” in Sichuan Peng Qing Xiaoguan, Tian Hao, Director of the International Training Center “One Zone – One Way” in Shanghai Jin Sunjin, Marketing Director of the Ukrainian Stem Cell Centre in China Feng Liang, Director of the International Training Centre “One Zone – One Way” in Sichuan Zhang Kefeng, Head of Law Firm “Rongding” in Jiangsu Yan Goi, Director of the International Cultural Exchange Centre “Silk Road”, International Training Centre “One Zone – One Way” Wang Yitan , Director of the International Training Centre “One Zone – One Way” in Ukraine Hana Kondratiuk, Deputy Director of Marketing for the Ukrainian Stem Cell Centre in China Li Qin.
During the scientific seminar, which was attended by the aforementioned guests, TNMU Rector, Professor Mykhaylo Korda, Vice-Rectors of the University, scientists and post-graduate students, prospects for the development of regenerative medicine and stem cell treatment were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Korda informed the guests of the seminar about the latest developments in this field, including the use of stem cells in the treatment of various pathologies. According to him, cell therapy is an innovative, extremely promising method of treatment of diseases and traumas, which makes it possible to repair damaged tissues of the body and organs through the transplantation of new healthy cells – stem cells. Stem cells have a unique ability to transform into all types of tissues and cells of the body, in particular blood cells, liver, myocardium, cartilage or nerve tissue. As a result, they restore damaged organs and their functions. Professor Korda emphasized that the potential of using this method for the treatment of diabetes, cancer and other diseases is extremely high.
Director of the International Cultural Exchange Centre “Silk Road”, Director of the International Training Centre “One zone – one way” Wang Yitan, for his part, noted that stem cell therapy has become recognized today and is becoming a priority area of medicine. Due to the Chornobyl catastrophe, many people started suffering from chronic diseases. “At that time, Ukraine set up a research project on regenerative medicine to study the characteristics of stem cells and their use in the treatment of diseases. The possibility of using stem cells, rejuvenation, and increasing life expectancy have achieved significant scientific results. Today, with a view to developing these studies, we are opening a Ukrainian-Chinese project on regenerative medicine and stem cell research, aimed at deepening cooperation in this area. In the future, both sides will implement this cooperation in the form of mutual visits of scientists, academic exchanges, training and creation of international research platforms. This project will promote the development of medicine in China and in the whole world,” Wang Yitan emphasized.
Halyna Lavrenchuk, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Cellular Radiobiology Laboratory of the National Scientific Center for Radiation Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, spoke about the experience of using stem cells in the treatment of victims of Chornobyl catastrophe. She said that thanks to this method, everyone was able to save lives. Halyna Lavrenchuk also shared her own experience of using stem cells for the treatment of diabetes and psoriasis.
Head of the Cell Cultures Departement of the Experimental Research Sector of Interdepartmental scientific research laboratory, Associate Professor Alina Dovhaliuk presented the report “Investigation of the regenerative potential of mesenchymal stem cells in simulated pathologies”. She also informed about the work of TNMU Research Laboratory on stem cell cultivation and research.
Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery Andrii Kovalchuk demonstrated the effectiveness of stem cell treatment in practical examples.
At the end of the seminar, a Chinese-Ukrainian Center for Research Projects on Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells was opened at our university.
