Lecturer from TNMU Participated in the Second Mental Health Forum “Human Resilience – System Resilience”

From November 26 to 28, 2024, Kyiv hosted the 2nd Mental Health Forum, “Human Resilience – System Resilience.” The event was organized by the Coordination Center for Mental Health Issues of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and gathered leading mental health experts to discuss key issues of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Mental Health Forum served as a three-day platform for experience exchange and decision-making to develop mental health systems and services in Ukraine during wartime and recovery.

One of the forum’s speakers in the panel discussion “Informal Services in Communities” was Vita Slavopas, Deputy Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Nursing at TNMU. She delivered a presentation, “What Multidisciplinarity and Interdisciplinarity Mean to Us and Whether We Fully Utilize Their Potential.” Oksana Zbitnieva, Head of the Coordination Center for Mental Health Issues of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, moderated the discussion. Participants discussed the importance of effective collaboration among specialists from various fields to create accessible, high-quality mental health services.

In her speech, Vita Slavopas emphasized that nurses could serve as full-fledged members of multidisciplinary teams and provide support within their professional capacities to maintain mental health. She shared her experience and vision of how nurses can actively contribute to such teams, enhancing patient psychosocial support.

The forum underscored the need for workforce training and strengthening the role of healthcare workers in mental health. It became a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and fostering collaboration, demonstrating how united efforts can transform the approach to mental health in Ukraine.
