The “Sex Education” Project Continues Public Activities in Ternopil Schools

Throughout the fall semester of 2024 (October 10 – November 18), the “Sex Education” project organized a series of lectures aimed at increasing youth awareness of sexual health in the following schools:

Ternopil Specialized School No. 3;

Ternopil Specialized School No. 5;

Ternopil Secondary School No. 24.

Sex education remains a highly relevant topic. Lecturers of the project continue to visit schools, engaging students who actively pose questions such as, “How long does an egg cell live? What is its fertilization potential?” “Does the egg attach to the uterus during pregnancy?” and “Where does pregnancy develop?” among others.

Goals of the “Sex Education” Project:

Emphasize respecting personal boundaries and knowing how to say “no” when their boundaries are violated.

Familiarize children with the structure of their own bodies.

Explain the physiological differences between men and women and the hormonal and physical changes during adolescence.

Inform teenagers about the risks associated with ignorance and misunderstanding of sex education topics.

The project’s primary objective is to provide adolescents with essential information about sexual health and education. Statistics reveal that lack of knowledge, fear of asking questions to parents, teachers, or friends, and anxiety about being mocked often lead to early parenthood or health issues—both physical and psychological. These challenges can create greater insecurities that persist into adulthood.

According to Valeriia Blahuliak, the project aims to reach a large audience of schoolchildren throughout the current academic year. The organizing team plans to host thematic lectures to deepen basic knowledge and reduce children’s apprehension about discussing these topics.

A heartfelt thanks goes to everyone who has supported this crucial initiative for the education and development of our youth. Together, we strive to equip children with the knowledge and confidence they need for a successful future!
