The Rector of TNMU Participated in a Meeting with Clergy of the Ternopil-Zboriv Archeparchy of the UGCC
On January 14, 2025, at the initiative of Archbishop and Metropolitan Theodore Martynyuk of the Ternopil-Zboriv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, a meeting was held between UGCC clergy and leaders of educational institutions in the Ternopil region. Auxiliary Bishop Volodymyr Firman also joined the discussion with the educators.

Metropolitan Theodore emphasized that the Church and education play a unique, unifying societal role. According to him, the Church serves as a center for spiritual support and the moral upbringing of youth.
Additionally, the Metropolitan called on university leaders to actively participate in the celebratory academy dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Andrey Sheptytskyi, scheduled for April this year. The year 2025 has been declared the Year of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in Ternopil region and throughout Ukraine.
The Rector of TNMU, Mykhailo Korda, noted that the medical university consistently supports all initiatives of the UGCC and maintains close contact with its clergy. “Our university has its spiritual mentor – Chaplain Father Ihor Drapak. For 10 years, spiritual meetings have been held between students and priests, during which they discuss topics essential for personal development,” said Mykhailo Korda.
He reminded the audience that in November 2024, TNMU hosted a meeting with the director of the “Andrey” Foundation, Associate Professor of the Department of Theology at the Ukrainian Catholic University, Mykhailo Perun, along with a screening of the documentary “Andrey Sheptytsky: Relevant” (source).
The university has also been visited twice by His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, to provide communication and spiritual support to the university’s community (source).
