TNMU Associate Professor Participates in Training on Mental Health Disorders Management at the Primary Healthcare Level under the mhGAP Program
Associate Professor Oksana Sydorenko from I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University successfully passed the selection process and participated in the mhGAP clinical training on the management of mental health disorders (Part 1), held in Lviv from May 6 to 9, 2025.
The Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) was launched in 2018 as an initiative of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in collaboration with partners and the World Health Organization (WHO). The expansion of mhGAP is coordinated by the Ministry of Health within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program initiated by Olena Zelenska.
The mhGAP trainings are conducted as part of a memorandum of cooperation in the field of mental health signed by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the WHO Country Office in Ukraine, and 21 international and national partners involved in integrating mental health services into the primary healthcare level. As of December 2025, more than 7,000 specialists—including family doctors, pediatricians, general practitioners, feldshers, nurses, and medical assistants—have undergone training.
