Representatives of TNMU Took Part in a Meeting on the Introduction of a Modern Model for Training Reserve Officers of the Medical Service

On August 12, 2025, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine hosted an interagency meeting dedicated to the implementation of a modern model for training reserve officers of the Medical Service.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Health Mykhailo Radutskyi, as well as representatives of the President Office, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense, General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Medical Forces Command, Ministry of Education and Science, the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy, and higher education institutions under the authority of the Ministry of Health. I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University was represented by Rector Mykhailo Korda and Head of the Department of Disaster and Military Medicine Viktor Lototskyi.

The main issues discussed included:

  • extending the requirement of compulsory reserve officer training for all students in medical and pharmaceutical specialties, regardless of the ownership or subordination of the higher education institution;
  • adapting the training program to NATO standards;
  • optimizing the academic workload;
  • financing of the training, particularly for tuition-fee-paying (contract) students.

The participants of the meeting identified the priority steps for implementing the new training model, which is scheduled to be launched gradually starting in 2026.
