TNMU Opened a Branch of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education at the O.F. Herbachevskyi Regional Clinical Hospital

On September 15, 2025, a delegation from the O.F. Herbachevskyi Regional Clinical Hospital of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, consisting of General Director Oleksandr Veselovskyi and Medical Director for Emergency Care and Surgical Services Vitalii Khomenko, visited Ternopil National Medical University to expand cooperation.

It should be noted that under the agreement between TNMU and the Zhytomyr Regional Clinical Hospital, close collaboration has already been established. A number of joint scientific and practical conferences and round tables have been organized on issues of Lyme disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as the peculiarities of diagnosing and managing emergency conditions in therapy and surgery.

Today, in order to improve postgraduate surgical training, a decision was made to open a branch of the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education of TNMU at the O.F. Herbachevskyi Regional Clinical Hospital. Alongside TNMU researchers, hospital-based surgeon-scientists, including PhD in Medicine Oleh Dykyi and PhD in Medicine Vitalii Khomenko, have been invited to contribute to the work of the branch.

The training process will incorporate modern teaching methods in surgical disciplines, including master classes in operating rooms, as well as lectures delivered by leading surgeon-scientists from the Department of Surgery of TNMU’s Faculty of Postgraduate Education.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, a series of joint scientific and practical conferences is planned, one of which will be on the topic “Medical Errors in Today’s Context: Clinical, Expert, and Legal Aspects.” It is scheduled to take place on October 16, 2025, in Zhytomyr at the hospital.

Classes will begin on October 1, 2025.
